Management of Anesthesia Crises in Thoracic Anesthesiology: Interaction with TEE and Simulation Technology

(Workshop limited to 100 registrants)

Educational Objectives: This workshop will provide the participant with informative interactive case discussions and hands-on demonstrations of various crises that occur in thoracic anesthesiology. Small group breakout sessions provide participants with the opportunity to diagnose and manage these crises utilizing simulation technology and TEE. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to: 1) practice the various methods of lung separation via "hands-on" airway simulation; 2) understand and review the techniques for the diagnosis and management of an intraoperative pneumothorax during single lung ventilation; 3) understand and review the techniques for the diagnosis and management of hypoxemia during single lung ventilation and associated hemodynamic changes; 4) understand and review the techniques for the diagnosis and management of pulmonary hypertension; and 5) understand the benefit that transesophageal echocardiography provides for the diagnosis and management of various crises in thoracic anesthesiology.
