An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Care of the
Cardiac Surgery Patient

Course Objective

This course is designed to update medical personnel who care for patients undergoing CPB. Entire sessions are devoted to specific topics of interest, such as perioperative organ protection, valve surgery, off-pump revascularization, bypass techniques and technology, TEE case studies, and pediatric cardiac surgery. Several sessions offer a case conference, which allows the participants an opportunity to engage in a lively interactive exchange with experts. The week ends with a Literature Review involving audience discussion of relevant articles pertinent to cardiac surgery. Upon completion of this course the participant will have learned new insights into team work and patient safety, management of patients with cardiac assist devices, and hematologic aspects relevant to the cardiac surgical patient.

Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, Perfusionists, and other physicians and allied health professionals involved in the care of the cardiac surgical patient will benefit from this meeting.
