Clinical Program

# of cardiac procedures with CPB per year: 850

# of non-cardiac thoracic cases per year: 1,200

# of heart, lung and heart/lung transplants per year: 80

# of major vascular cases per year: 20 (all other vascular surgery is done in the general OR)

Distribution of cardiac cases: 75% CABG, 25% Valves, very few adult Congenital (over 350 pediatric cardiac operations at Childrens Hospital)

Operating Room equipment available: transesophageal echocardiography, ECG ST segment analysis, mixed venous oximetry, continuous cardiac output, intraoperative ECG mapping for arrhythmia surgery

Special features, requirements or comments about program: Center for Maze Procedures, lung transplants, lung volume reduction. Cardiac rotation at Childrens Hospital 2 to 6 months. Rotation in vascular surgery. Provides training in cardiac, thoracic and vascular anesthesia, as well as rotation at Childrens Hospital in cardiac anesthesia.
